Sample case study
Sample case study: a fintech onboarding project.
This page is a structural placeholder. It shows the shape a real brand identity case study takes on this site. Replace every section below with a real project, and delete the banner at the top once you do.
How to use this page
What belongs in each section.
Keep the five headings. They are what makes these write-ups worth reading, and the last one is the one that earns trust. Write roughly 700 to 1,100 words in total for a brand identity project.
Get written permission from the client before publishing, including permission to show the artwork and to name them. If they will only agree to being described by sector, that is still publishable: describe the problem precisely and keep the name out.
- The brief: what they asked for and the constraint that made it awkward.
- The problem: what was actually wrong, which is often not what they asked about.
- What we made: the decisions, with the reasoning next to each one.
- The result: only what you can evidence. Leave it out rather than guess.
- What we would do differently: at least one real thing, no hedging.
Section outline
The five headings, applied to a financial services project.
The brief
What the financial services team came to you with, the deadline they were working to, and the constraint that shaped everything: a launch date, a regulator, an existing product, a budget.
The problem
What the audit found. For regulated financial products, this is usually a gap between what the company believes it sounds like and what its material actually communicates.
What we made
The mark, the palette, the type, the templates. One paragraph per significant decision, each with the argument for it rather than a description of it.
The result
Something you can stand behind: a launch shipped on time, a system still in use a year later, a named metric the client has agreed you may publish.
Before you publish
Four things that will get this page removed.
Do not invent a testimonial.
A fabricated quote attributed to a real company is a legal problem and a reputational one. If you have no quote, run the case study without one. Nobody has ever hired a studio because of a pull quote.
Do not invent a metric.
Percentages that appear without a source are read as decoration by anyone senior. Either get the number from the client in writing, with permission to publish it, or describe the outcome in words.
Do not publish artwork without permission.
Unreleased work, internal screens and anything under an NDA stay out until you have written agreement. Check whether your contract's publicity clause covers what you are about to post.
Do not leave this banner in place.
The amber banner at the top of this page is one line of markup. Delete it when the page holds real content, and delete these sample pages entirely if you do not need three case studies at launch.
Replace this page, or delete it.
Two sample case studies ship with this site so the work grid is not empty. Neither should survive your launch.
